Current Projects
QUELLE eco audit project
The executive board decided that QUELLE would participate in the EC Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) as part of the approval of the 1998/99 environmental plan on 10.02.1998.
First the Leipzig dispatch centre, the Nuremberg and Fürth return depots and the Nuremberg regional warehouse logistic locations were subject to validation by an external verifier in autumn 1999. These are QUELLE locations at which both the environmental impacts and our environmental achievements can be seen directly.
However, this is only the beginning. In the course of 2001, we will submit our administration locations, at which mainly indirect environmental impacts are to be observed, for EMAS validation.
Environmental and social standards project
Our products are largely produced abroad. Here, we also endeavour to ensure that minimum social and ecological standards are maintained. These standards have been defined in the QUELLE purchasing terms until now.
A Quelle Code of Conduct (for ensuring social standards in procurement) is also currently under preparation. This will be based on the ILO conventions and define compliance with minimum standards such as the prohibition of child labour or reasonable pay.
Our next step will be to introduce a functioning monitoring system to ensure compliance with our requirements.
