European consumers support the Mail-Order business:
For the first time, Quelle, Neckermann, and the subsidiary companies have more than 40 Million customers

Frankfurt/Fürth/Essen. In the 2004 fiscal year, the mail order company, Karstadt Quelle, gained more than 1 million new customers. With it more than 40 Million customers ordered at Quelle, Neckermann, and the subsidiary companies. Especially the new customers of the subsidiary companies and the foreign branches led to an extremely good result.

"This distinct growth of customers underlines the growing attractivity of European mail-order companies,” explained Arwed Fischer, Chairman of the board of Quelle AG and Neckerman AG as well as member of the KarstadtQuelle AG executive board, at a press conference in Frankfurt.
Quelle and Neckermann both acquired an exceptional amount of foreign customers in 2004. The number of Quelle customers in the Netherlands grew to three times what it was in 2003, in western Europe, Quelle’s subsidiaries in France, Belgium, Spain, and Portugal gained over 200,000 new customers, and in Middle-Eastern Europe, all of the companies expanded the number of customers. In 2004 a total of 3.5 Million customers in middle eastern Europe ordered from the catalogues of Quelle and Neckermann.
The 23 special delivery companies from KarstadtQuelle Corporation indicated a gain of more than 350,000 customers. Some of the exceptionally successful companies were Happy Size, the retailer of attractive fashion in big sizes as well as the Walz-Gruppe with the label ‘Baby Walz,’ ‘Die moderne Hausfrau,’(‘The Modern Housewife’) and ‘Walz Kidzz.’
